PLANETS Beyond Web

PLANETS Beyond Web

PLANETS (Planetary Learning that Advances the Nexus of Engineering, Technology, and Science) is an interdisciplinary and cross-institutional partnership between Northern Arizona University’s Center for Science Teaching & Learning, the Museum of Science Boston’s Engineering is Elementary, and the USGS Astrogeology Science Center to develop and disseminate out-of-school time curricular and educator resource modules that integrate planetary science, technology, and engineering.

2020–Present

The grant was renewed in 2020 for another five years and we’ve moved into PLANETS 2.0. Beyond the website, tmsr Design has been engaged in illustrations, PowerPoint design, table banners, swag stickers, and desktop publishing of reports. The relationship grows and continues to be a win-win!

2019–2023

tmsr Design Delivery was brought on board in the 4th year of the PLANETS 1.0 grant to assist in making the website component real in the face of administrative challenges encountered by the partners to-date.

As is our niche, tmsr Design Delivery made things happen, crossing hurdles to set up the WordPress environment, launch a sandbox so that players could envision the realities, and utilize Google Tag Manager as well as WordPress plugins to provide the tracking data required by the NASA grant. All functional elements were developed with an eye for sustainability that included free software utilities.

The real fun happened when tmsr Design Delivery presented the first of the three units’ prototype page. Eyes lit up in the room as the NAU PLANETS team members realized this could not only happen, but what if…

Remote Sensing was released for national use on September 15, 2019.
